PAST ARTISTS

Ráyo Furuta is a multi-talented artist, educator, and advocate who has made significant contributions to the world of music. With a diverse range of expertise, he has worked as a concertizing solo flutist in various genres, including classical, world, jazz, and pop music.

Beyond his performances, Furuta has also dedicated himself to serving others through music. He founded Chamber Music Silicon Valley, an arts organization based in San Jose. This organization aims to explore the intersections of arts, multicultural communities, technology, and classical chamber music. As the Artistic Director, Furuta is responsible for shaping the vision and direction of the organization.  

 

In addition to his work with Chamber Music Silicon Valley, Furuta holds important positions in academia. He serves as the Professor of Flute at San José State University, where he imparts his knowledge and skills to aspiring musicians. Furuta is also the Lecturer in Performance Practice and Community Engagement at Santa Clara University, where he has been entrusted with designing a curriculum on Music & Social Justice. This role reflects his commitment to using music as a tool for addressing social issues and promoting positive change in society.  

 

Through his artistic endeavors, educational roles, and advocacy efforts, Ráyo Furuta exemplifies the power of music to transcend boundaries and make a difference in people's lives.
